Challenge Mulanje

Dave made many friends along the way during Mission Malawi; people who gave of their time, their talent and their money. Now he is asking friends, old and new, to support Challenge Mulanje. This page is about them and what they have to say about this initiative.

Dave Spikey

Viv Anderson: "I was lucky enough to visit Friends of Mulanje Orphans in June 2007. I had a life changing experience. To see for myself how the FOMO orphans pick themselves up, dust themselves down and get on with life after the sad loss of their parents is amazing. FOMO gives the orphans of Mulanje, food, water, medication and education. Mary and Keith and their team go far beyond this initial brief, they give the orphans love and hope, so that they can build great lives for themselves in the future. I wish everyone could experience what I experienced in Malawi and I encourage and support anyone that takes part in Challenge Mulanje. Have a great trip and give the kids my love when you get there". Ex-England International Viv Anderson

Matthew KellyMatthew Kelly: "I would like to wish all those taking part in Challenge Mulanje all the success in the World for the challenge ahead.  FOMO provides so many valuable resources to improve the lives of the orphans in Malawi and what you are contributing towards will directly benefit them.  Well done and good luck.  Much love" Matthew Kelly - Actor

Dave Spikey: "Challenge Mulanje looks like a superb project and I wish everyone taking part good luck in their journey fundraising and getting fit.  The cruel HIV positive statistics of Malawi are shocking, but its great to see so many people making an effort to do something positive for the orphans of Malawi.  Good effort all those invovled"  Dave Spikey - Comedian

Coleen NolanColeen Nolan: "I was highlighted to the problems of Malawi's massive HIV issues and the everyday problems faced by its orphans back in 2005. Its shocking. The FOMO project puts so much emphasis into helping orphans not only in essentials of life like food and heathcare, but it puts education very high on the list of priorities too. Education will help these orphans escape poverty. Challenge Mulanje and the funding of a skills centre is another example of FOMO's commitment to the future of the orphans in its care. Having recently completed a charity cycle ride myself I understand the hard work and pain. I therefore wish all those taking part and playing such a big part in the creation of this new centre all my very best wishes. Take your vaseline. Love Coleen." Coleen Nolan - TV Presenter and Singer

Hazel Blears Hazel Blears: "Wishing you every success in your fundraising efforts. I hope you have a fantastic adventure as you travel across Malawi and I am sure that spending time with the children of the Mulanje Orphanage will be a very special and memorable experience. Very best wishes and good luck!" Hazel Blears - MP
